Have you done any gardening or re-arranging inside? Around this time of the year I always get the urge to re-decorate my house...I also love adding color to my yard.....show us some pics if you've done the same!!

My homemade Valentines gift was breakfast for my husband. On our Anniversary last year, we had a dessert that he LOVED! I could never find the bread that was used, in a grocery store, so I spent yesterday making a homemade loaf of Brioche. I used to bread to make a french toast breakfast!

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of my creative space. Where I do all of my baking! It's organized, but still not the "decor" it will be until the kitchen is renovated. Everything is new, except the wooden recipe box. That was given to me as an engagment gift about 5 years ago.

Also, if you like the kitchen towel, let me know. I got a pack of 7, all different colors, at Big Lot's for $1.99! I would be glad to buy and send some to anyone, if they still have them. I'm very picky about towels and I need them to be very absorbant. These are thin and work great!!

***your domestic challenge.....It's the New Year. We have many resolutions and a common one is organization. Let's challenge ourselves to getting things organized! Do you have an artistic hobby space that you need to de-clutter? Let us see the results!"

My mom always took a picture of what "santa" brought before we went out into the livingroom. We would line up behind the hall door and when we got the word, we ran out and screamed and went nuts. Let's do the same. Take a picture of the tree and all the presents before they're torn into!!

Help Me! [21 Dec 2005|07:15pm]

My informal, fun open house has turned into a somewhat formal luncheon! Formal as in we will all be sitting together at the table. I really would like ideas on how to make some EASY items that taste really good. I have a 6 month old to nurse and no one to really help me make anything (husband will be tending baby). I shop at Whole Foods, so if you know of anything premade there that would be good, let me know. I'm thinking of doing sandwich meat with a couple of WF breads amd fancy spreads. I'll buy dessert there because everything they make tastes better than homemade. SO, I need appetizer and side ideas ASAP. If anyone has better ideas for the "entree" other than homemade gourmet sandwiches, TELL ME! Thanks!

My cookie packages are being shipped tomorrow. I went with two recipes that I've never tried before. I was in a brave mood..I hope the recipients are also. (Nah, they're pretty damn good).

My first two batches were christmas trees, doves, bells, stars and angels....the shapes turned out great, but I chickened out on decorating them. What a pain! So, I decided I would use my smallest biscuit cutter and make "christmas tree ornaments" LOL.

This is what I came up withCollapse )

Hey, everyone. I'd like to promote another still-small community, partyplanning. Please come and share stories about parties you've hosted, parties you'd like to host, party games, themes, ideas, menus, decorations, whatever! Or come to ask questions about any aspect of party planning. Pictures are great too!

Also, here's my little introduction:

age: 22
job: University student, part-time cashier at Target.
married/single: I live with my boyfriend of 4.5 years.
children: One cat...
favorite domestics: Throwing parties! Also sewing, learning to cook new things.
least favorite domestics: Dishes.
specialty: Making everything extravagant and over-the-top, on very very little money.

Every Christmas season I enjoy  hosting as many "get togethers" as possible. This year I'll be hosting more then ever since I'm now a full time homemaker. Today was my first one this holiday season. It was for the other SAHM's in my life.

Christmas Goodies! [05 Dec 2005|12:45pm]

3_days

Every year we celebrate a second Thanksgiving with our family in Florence, SC. The reason is my great-grandfather (my children's great-great grandfather) is 91 years old, remarried, and spends Thanksgiving day with his wife's family - which is fine with us since they live near them. Since we met in December this year I made some Snickerdoodle cookies for him and my two younger cousins - both boys 5 and 10. I found this bags in the Target dollar bin! They were a hit!

Front with recipe.

Close up of recipe card.

Side profile.

It's so fun being so craft/domestic! :) This is the first time I haven't worked since high school for the holidays. It's so much fun and even more fun since I have my own family now.

I'm a tad late on the fire pictures, but better late then never!

The fire was gorgeous! I'm still working on trying to get a make-shift pit in my back yard!

My Christmas tree [03 Dec 2005|12:06am]

I have the pictures under a cut, as I don't want to clog anyones page up. I still have to add bows/ribbons and fake snow. Christmas is my favorite time of year. :)
The pics are a bit blurry since I had the flash off and was not using a tripod. It's my new cam, so I haven't messed with any settings yet.

First, let me apologize for posting my Thanksgiving pictures so late. I've been extremely busy getting ready for Christmas early this year. I refuse to procrastinate. Enjoy!

I'm kind of re-thinking the premise of this community. There are just too many great things about each month to pick "just one" thing to share with everyone. I'm going to come up with more open themes and maybe just make suggestions for each month. Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
